In 2003, Surgisoft was created out of the need for a cost-effective and easy-to-support surgery scheduling, sales analysis and inventory tracking tool for a multi-division device distributorship. For this rapidly growing organization (collectively responsible for millions of dollars of surgical implants and instruments shared over a large geographic territory, and even more than that in sales for no less than 8 manufacturers) standard scheduling applications, inventory tracking spreadsheets, and CRM software not 'intelligently' linked together did not fit the bill. Surgisoft was developed on-site to integrate, manage and streamline these sometimes overwhelming, typically inefficient and often flat-out inaccurate business processes, and to allow the independent medical products distributor to thrive in a competitive economy.
By 2004, Surgisoft made real-time case tracking and its full compliment of business management services available via the World Wide Web, making the work of distributors and their field sales reps easier than ever. Knowing the benefit of a healthy distributor-manufacturer mutual support system (regardless of the number of product lines the distributor carries), Surgisoft began the year launching new modules to securely and conveniently facilitate that relationship and further increase the success of both parties. Today Surgisoft offers a fully-hosted suite of tools to support real-time sales reporting, product inventory management, purchase order and charge sheet tracking, field activity and schedules, cost and profit analytics, and much more that is used daily by industry leading distributors, their sales reps, managers, and manufacturer partners.

It was while serving as the Director of Operations for a management company solely dedicated to supporting the success of 4 dynamic medical device distributorships that Kim discovered the need for a product like Surgisoft. Brought in because of her expertise in the selective application of technology to maximize profitability, Kim explored a variety of existing enterprise and specialized resource tools before realizing that the uniqueness of the business required a tool custom-built to suit it - and Surgisoft was born.

Before coming to the medical device industry, Kim applied her business development and software engineering skills to some exciting leading edge projects. As the co-founder and co-author of TempWorks, the first integrated client-server human resources and payroll system, she helped revolutionize the use of technology in the staffing industry. Kim also worked with Royal and Sun Alliance on post-merger systems integration and architecting their ground-breaking Agency Extranet, a 2001GEMS e-initiative.
